"Sunlight Saddle Club Summer Camp Program"
|
| |
Summer time is upon us! With less than a month left in school, Children are staring to get restless thinking about their summertime adventures, while parents are still trying to find adventures to send them on. Whether your children are already involved in horses, or just want to try something different, Sunlight offers a unique summer camp for any situation.
During Camp, not only will your child receive quality riding lessons in a professional atmosphere, they will also engage in activities to build their horsemanship skills such as grooming, bathing, tacking up, basic first aid, horse safety and general knowledge of the horses anatomy. Riders will get a chance to experience trail riding through our pristine natural Florida landscape on our 1,000 acre property as well.
Its not all serious at the farm though, we have lots of fun here! Afternoon activities include playing on our water slide/pool, bareback riding, Capture the saddle pad (group game), Color Wars, and so on. The schooling barn also offers a Bunk House upstairs complete with games, Ping Pong, Tables/Chairs to eat/play on, couches to relax on, TV for video games, and most of all provides a place for the children to escape the summer weather.
Camp is Monday through Friday 9am-2pm (extended day available). Registration has begun and space is limited. Please visit our website at www.SunlightRanch.com or call (772)781-5429.
Call now to register for all our summer camps.
Sunlight Ranch... far away from the congestion, but close enough to perfection.

In photo: (left to right) Nicole Switzer, Debbie Roberts, LMT, and Joanie Moore gather to prepare for TNT August 28th event.
By: Jeannie Ferrara
STUART, FL. – On Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 8:00a, Debbie Roberts. L.M.T., of Massage & Fitness Professionals of the TreasureCoast and staff will support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) marathon training for the Team in Training (TNT) program. Roberts will present a brief educational seminar about common issues runners face with muscle imbalances and how to correct them. Moreover, Roberts will help the athletes with their stretch and strength clinic.
TNT began in 1988, when Bruce Cleland of Rye, NY formed a team that raised funds and trained to run the New York City Marathon in honor of Cleland's daughter Georgia, a leukemia survivor. TreasureCoast athletes have committed to join the more than 40,000 runners, walkers, cyclists, hikers and triathletes who will participate in the world's major marathons, triathlons, hiking adventures and century rides this year on behalf of LLS. TreasureCoast runners meet at the Shell gas station at the base of the RooseveltBridge in Stuart on Saturday mornings. For more information, how you might also join Team in Training, please contact Nicole Switzer at Nicole.switzer@lls.org, or call (561)775-9954. For more information about TNT, please see: http://www.teamintraining.org/pb/
Jon Blakeslee and Joanie Moore have committed to coaching the athletes that are raising money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The endurance program is for three different events: The Women’s Running Magazine’s Women’s Half-Marathon in St. Petersburg on Nov. 21, The Palm Beaches Marathon Festival Half-Marathon on Dec.5, or Disney full or half-marathon Jan. 8 & 9, 2011.
Roberts staff (with over 30 years combined experience) can leave you feeling refreshed, renewed, and rejuvenated. To find out more about the three different departments of Massage & Fitness Professionals of the Treasure Coast (massage, fitness, and aesthetics), why equipment can make people weak; and why exercise should be based on functional training not muscle isolation, please call the office for a personal appointment or to schedule a speaking engagement for your group.
Additionally, for the months of August and September 2010, any monetary donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will warrant a 20% discount off the regular price of either ½ or 1-hour massage. To find out more about the services offered by Massage & Fitness Professionals of the Treasure Coast, please see: www.massage-fitnessspa.com/about.html or visit: 2215 S. Rodriguez Wins the "Classic"
 |
St Lucie West -- August 8th marked the latest round of the best open scratch tournament in the Treasure Coast as Paul Koehler, PBA Tour bowler holds 2 National Title second place finishes and 7 Regional Titles, hosted his prestigious Scratch Classic at Saint Lucie Lanes.
25 BOWLERS = 6 ROUNDS OF FIERCE COMPETITION!
The top 5 finishers entered a ladder, a series of one on one matches to determine the winner. In round 1, 4th place qualifier Jesse Rodriguez, who only began bowling adult tournaments this season defeated professional Jai Alai player John Bembaron 214-159. Bembaron won $100 for his efforts.
In Round 2, Rodriguez knocked off defeated former Treasure Coast Classic winner and two time PBA Regional Title winner Dennis Psaropoulos 217-206. Psaropoulos, who has made the ladder for the fourth consecutive Treasure Coast Scratch Classic, took home $150.
This action set up an exciting match up, pitting the young Rodriguez against local favorite former PBA pro and last month's "Classic winner; Dave Simms. It was a tight match up with Rodriguez knocking off Simms 223-213. Simms took $200 third place prize winnings.
The final match pitted youth versus experience once again as Rodriguez bowled local league bowler Bruce Kindsvogel. Rodriguez had really mastered the tough pro pattern by this point and produced an impressive 235 to defeat Kindsvogel's 210 and take home the $450 first place winnings. Kindsvogel earned $300 for his second place showing.

 |
Port St Lucie -- July 11th marked the latest battle of the Titians as Paul Koehler, PBA Tour bowler holds 2 National Title second place finishes and 7 Regional Titles, hosted his prestigious Scratch Classic at Saint Lucie Lanes.
35 BOWLERS = 6 ROUNDS OF FIERCE COMPETITION!
The TOP 5 BOWLERS entered a ladder, a series of one on one matches to determine the winner. In round 1, 5th place qualifier Anthony Colosimo, who works in 10 Back Pro Shop inside of Sparez at the Springz in Margate, FL and has made the final 5 twice defeated Fort Lauderdale based PBA Regional bowler
Rick McDaniel 224 - 181.
In Round 2, Colosimo knocked off defeated experienced tournament bowler Craig Auerbach 211 - 208, and continued on a roll defeating former Treasure Coast Classic winner and two time PBA Regional Title winner Dennis Psaropoulos.
This action set up an exciting match for the final step of the ladder, pitting Colosimo against local favorite former PBA pro Dave Simms. Colosimo was set to "climb the ladder" if he could pull off the victory. This would mark the second consecutive occurrence of this difficult feat in the "Classic", and third time over all. Martin County Youth Sports Alliance Hosts 1st Annual La Crosse Shootout
 |
Stuart – Travel recreational La Crosse teams from all over Florida visited Stuart this weekend for the first annual “Martin County Shootout.
Teams from as far north as Jacksonville and as far south as Miami banged and slammed their way to excitement for spectators for two day at Halpatiokee Park.
Lacrosse is a team sport of Native American origin that is played using a small solid rubber ball and a long-handled racquet called a crosse or lacrosse stick. The head of the lacrosse stick is strung with loose netting that is designed to hold the lacrosse ball. Offensively, the objective of the game is to use the lacrosse stick to catch, carry, and pass the ball in an effort to score by shooting the ball into an opponent's goal. Defensively, the objective is to keep the opposing team from scoring and to dispossess them of the ball through the use of stick checking and body contact or positioning.

Scotch Doubles Dinner Tournament Serves Up Delicious Fun
 |
Jupiter -- Fierce competition started at 6:30pm at Jupiter Lanes for its wildly popular Scotch Doubles Tournament and Dinner on Sunday, June 6th. Overall scores were high but and the winning team mates were new comers PB Packard and John Olson taking home $114 first prize money. Second place went to April 25th tournament winners Judy Merlo and Joel Feinerg and 3rd place was Trisha Estabrook and Chris Bardoff.
The 5 game format is always great fun for the bowlers as Tournament Director, Scott Griggs, mixes it up and makes it fun for bowlers of all skills. Families welcome - there's lots of fun and good food to go around. Look for notice of our next tourmant early August, 2010. In the meantime, remember, KEEP THE BALL ROLLING!

Stuart Sailfish Club Celebrates 25th Anniversary of the Ladies Tournament With Docktail Party
 |
Port Salerno – Weather was great, bathtub-like seas, 28 boats, 69 lady anglers, and many fans & supporters made this another great tournament, though fish were scattered & few. But fun abounded.
As the name implies, this tournament is for ladies only. It's a one-day annual event, held in May. Membership in the Club is not required but we do encourage all who do participate to join the Stuart Sailfish Club. Prizes are awarded for first through third places. An outstanding angler award is given to the top female angler of the tournament. The Ladies Tournament is one of the longest running Ladies Tournaments in the country. They fished for sailfish release, as well as heaviest dolphin, kingfish and Wahoo.
Partial proceeds from the event benefit Pink Tie Friends, Inc. This group helps under-insured/uninsured breast cancer patients receive treatment. All funds raised by Pink Tie Friends, Inc. are distributed locally to Treasure Coast area patients.

Tom Daugherty Wins 2010 Scratch Classic
 |
In photo: Tom Daugherty (left) and Paul Koehler after Daugherty won the Aoril 11th Treasure Coast Scratch Classic.
Port St. Lucie -- On April 11th at 11:30am pins crashed at the Treasure Coast Scratch Classic Tournament, hosted by Paul Koehler, PBA Tour bowler holding 2 National Title second place finishes and 7 regional titles.
The April 11th Classic was even more tasty because Collelo's Italian Market & Bakery "sweetened" the pot with a $500.00 sponsorship added to the prize fund.
40 bowlers ranging from highly talented junior bowlers to former touring professionals, squared off for 6 rounds of fierce action. The top 8 finishers plus the top senior and the top female received their share of the over $3,000 prize.
The top 5 bowlers enter the ladder, a series of one on one matches to determine the winner:
1. Tom Daugherty is a former exempt bowler on the national tour. Won the Palm Beach County Match Play Tournament last month becoming the first person to win every game. Recently finished 22 at PBA Marathon open.
2. Jeremy Mooney just started bowling adult tournaments this season. Made it to the round of 16 at the Palm Beach County Match Play Tournament. He has made several top 10 finishes in local scratch events this year.
3. Anthony Colosimo works in 10 Back Pro Shop inside of Sparez at the Springz in Margate, FL. He finished 2nd at our last tournament.
4. Ron Dixon is former national tour bowler. Owner of Keglers Coral Pro Shop in Boynton Beach, Fl. Cashed at the US Open this year.

Marinefuel.com Announces real-time marine fuel prices online, ahead of the 2010 Miami Boat Show!
 |
Stuart, FL, February 4, 2010 - - After 2 years of research, development, and hard work, the dedicated Marinefuel.com Team and it’s investors are pleased to announce the first (and only) marine industry portal of it's kind. Providing immediate access to the most accurate marina services information available on the internet today, Marinefuel.com streamlines fuel transactions within the marine industry.
In service to all boaters and fuel providers, a free Basic Membership opens the Fuel Dock Prices™ & E-Marina™ database, putting comprehensive and centralized information at Member’s fingertips. The system also has advanced searching capabilities making it easy for members to locate a merchant based on fuel brand, fuel treatment, facility amenity, and much more.
Using The Fuel Bid Desk™ to arrange purchase of 1000 gallons or more, Members can request, review, and then select a preferred vendor to deliver wholesale priced fuel. The website is designed to generate up to 50% savings on every fuel purchase, and offers a variety of services to meet the diverse needs of the marine industry consumer.
William N. McKenna, President of Marinefuel.com, LLC states: “By spring time, I anticipate the price of oil will be more than $90/barrel. This will push retail prices across the Nation to over $5.00/gallon for marine gasoline and marine diesel fuel. These prices are already showing up in the Bahamas and Caribbean this year, so to combat this economic trend, we’ve created a tool which easily produces the best ROI in the industry.”
Saving professionals and boating enthusiasts hundreds (or thousands) of dollars with free data access for boaters, and free advertising for marinas, Marinefuel.com is the industry’s newest, and best, fuel finding resource.

Golf Legend Errie Ball Statue Unveiled at Willoughby Golf Club
 |
In photo: Errie Ball with artist Geoffrey Smith
Stuart, FL, November 24, 2009 -- The community recently honored Errie Ball, 99, the Golf Pro Emeritus at Willoughby Golf Club, with a bronze bust by sculptor Geoffrey Smith. Ball is a golf legend and is the lone survivor of the players in the very first Masters in 1934.
Ball has been affiliated with Willoughby since it opened in 1989 under the leadership of Erling Speer. Gerry Knebels, the head professional at Willoughby since it opened already knew Ball and was pleased when he left John's Island in Vero Beach for Stuart.
Ball is a native of Wales and began playing golf very early. In fact, when he was only 15, he played in the British Open and was recognized as the youngest contestant ever to compete. Now, Errie Ball is also recognized as being "the last man left standing" from the very first Masters in 1934.
The unveiling of the bronze bust was the beginning of the annual homecoming party for seasonal and year-round residents of the club. Ball was joined by his wife, Maxey and his children and grandchildren.
The statue is located by the first tee and serves to remind all golfers what golf is all about and the lessons Errie has taught us all about golf and life, commented Arnie Eckelman, Willoughby President.
Ball remains active at Willoughby both as a teacher and a golfer. Gerry Knebels summed it up by saying, " He is the ultimate golf professional. He has earned his place in golf with his knowledge, integrity, professionalism and his playing record. If you listen to him you can learn something new about the golf business every day."

Junior Anglers Thank Tournament & Boat Captains!
 |
In photo: Greg Kusel and Anthony Ferrara taking a break and enjoying the “Chamber of Commerce day” off the shores of the beautiful Treasure Coast.
By Jeannie Ferarra
STUART -- On Saturday, August 8, 2009, Martin County High School (MCHS) Freshmen, Anthony Ferrara, and Greg Kusel were afforded a day at sea that they will never forget! Thanks to the Stuart Sailfish Club and their 32nd annual Jr. Angler Tournament. The boys were generously provided an entire day of deep-sea adventures thanks to the Boat Captain, Eric Knipfer, and first mate, Natalie Knipfer, on the boat, “One of the Girls.”
Special thanks to the event sponsors, Stuart Sunrise Rotary Club, AJ Boatworks, and many other local businesses; due to their generosity, the youth were able to participate in the two-day event that was open to all children age 15 and under. There were raffles, skill stations, food, fun, trophies & awards. Every angler won. While the tournament was open to all kids, tournament organizers also welcomed kids that would otherwise not have the opportunity to fish. Anglers came from Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Port Salerno Elementary, and Boys & Girls Clubs from as far away as Indiantown, Samaritan House, Hospice kids, FOS Volunteers, Boy & Girl Scouts, ARC of Martin County, 20-200 Group Kids and others.
